Closet Makeover

I have finally finished organizing my closet. It isn't some fancy makeover but it is organized and efficient for me with some special touches. Living in a small house has made me become claustrophobic in a way and has made me declutter and get rid of stuff that I tend to just hang on to. I used to have 2 closets full of clothes and also kept my seasonal clothes underneath our bed in bins. Well, after having 3 kids and no more extra closets, I was forced to get rid of some stuff. Of course I could have packed them up into bins to collect dust but the "new me" decided it was time to let go.

First off, I got rid of all the clothes that did not fit me at this time in life. There were those maternity pants that I still would put on for the comfort or the 5 pair of yoga pants that I owned but it isn't like I am actually using them for yoga or anything. I downgraded from my 15 pair of jeans to 8, donated or gave away clothes that I had not worn in at least the past 2 months and just let go of the "I might wear those one day" clothes. My motto was "Let it go, let it go!" LOL

So, I now have this....

I feel like I probably should paint the inside of the closet some pop of color but not sure what...any thoughts??

To the right side of the closet I keep my boots (propped with pool noodles...I have heard magazines rolled up work as well). I downgraded to one pair of brown, black, and light tan boots and also have a pair of rain boots. The bins at the top are actually pampers boxes with fabric modpodged onto them. I keep flip-flops in one and pocketbooks in the other. Then to the left side of my closet I keep this plastic bin which holds my undies, pjs, and workout clothes. I put my shorts and leggings on top of it. Ofcourse you can see my main shoes that I use are in the front and accessible. I need to switch them out for my boots now since Fall is officially here. Yay! Luckily that is the only switching I have to do because my closet holds my summer and fall clothes and I keep my coats in here also. 

I have 3 set of pant holders for my closet with one holding trousers and another holding jeans. I have 2 set of scarf holders and 1 actually holds my belts also. I purchased the holders from Ross. The pants  holder was $4.99 and the scarf holders were $2.99 for 2. Not a bad deal in my book. For any one thing I buy, I donate one. This way the closet doesn't get cluttered. and I am purging stuff that I do not wear that often.

I loved the way the inside of my door turned out. The mirror was one I have had for a long time that I just threw some extra craft paint onto, put some command strips on the back and stuck it on the door. I also put a command hook right above it to hold my outfit for the next day. Command strips have become one of my favorite things to use when it comes to hanging stuff. I usually always keep a stockpile in my craft closet because I am always finding a use for them. I also used the command strips for the cork tiles and then took some extra twine and wrapped it a few times around the tiles and hot glued it so I could have something to hand my earrings on. I used clear push-pins to hold my necklaces and my bracelets, rings and watches sit in a silver tray on top of the dresser (that my husband has now full use of). I think he now has more clothes than me. LOL         

Our Weekend

Happy Monday Y'all!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! We had a fun-filled one like always. Friday the hubs went to Carowinds with his brother so I invited one of Trin's friends to come over to spend the night. They had a blast playing together and the next morning we all went to Chuck E Cheese. It is amazing how relaxing it can be to go there...ofcourse, if it isn't busy. We can just give the kids some coins and let them loose. Even my 1 year old has a blast! I also like how they stamp each person's arms in your group so none can leave with your child. 

After that, we went and picked up this iron table and chairs from this lady off of a Facebook yard sale site. I got it for $50 and we are planning on spray painting it this burgundy. I really wanted to do this blue but my husband likes the red because it is close to his football team's colors. LOL What do you all think???

When we got home, the boys took a nap and the girls played outside with playdoh. This was the perfect time for me to do some cleaning out. I put a table out in our garage for me to do crafts on so I decided to take all my picture frames and organize them in 2 bins and put them underneath the table. I know I have an abundance of frames but you never know when you may need one to do a craft with! 

Since I now had a free shelf, I decided to organize the kids toys with these $1 store bins. 

On the left side I have the pool folded up in the back with the pool toys in the bucket and the towels, swimmers diapers and sunscreen all out to easily grab. Ofcourse none of this is needed now but it will come in handy next summer. I also like having the plastic pool because after it is used each time, I let it dry out and fold it back up. Easy and out of the way! I also just leave swimsuits in this plastic bag hanging up so I can just easily search through and grab them. On the right side I have baseball equipment, bubbles and 2 bins designated for sand toys and other outside toys (balls, jump ropes, chalk, etc.).

It may not be as pretty as I may like it to be but it is practical and convenient for us and hey, that is what it should be about anyway! 

Sundays are always busy but I always find to be refreshing. We rush to get up and get the kids ready for church, out the door, 30 minute drive later and then we have to take all 3 kids to different classes. We usually go out to eat afterwards, run errands and then it is back to church again. As soon as my bottom hits that pew though, I find that all my wordily duties fly out the window. I love my church and love to listen to my preacher preach and boy, I find that I learn something new every time I go. It just seems to rejuvenate me for the week and I feel like I am starting fresh and all the mistakes that I made from the week before are forgiven and gone. I think especially as women, we beat ourselves up and we need to know that we can be forgiven. Isn't it great knowing that God does all of that for us!

Our Weekend

Hope you all had a blessed weekend! We stayed pretty busy while Daddy worked. Friday I worked from 7:30-5:30 and then had errands to run afterwards. I did take Trinity to meet her teacher on my lunch break. Here she is at her desk in her new class:

Her teacher greeted us at the door and she said, "This must be Trinity." (me thinking:I hope her knowing who my child is before introducing her is a good thing) She went on to say that she was told to expect a pretty little red head with blue eyes and is about the same size as her 3 year old. LOL She seemed to warm up to her teacher pretty well and also got to see who was siting in the center with her. She knows one other little boy. On our way out, we stopped to see her teachers from last year and she was so excited! She gave them big hugs and they said that they told her new teacher that all she had to do was give Trinity a journal and she would write away. :)

 We got home in time to eat a quick supper around 8 and then when Daddy got home, we enjoyed the rest of the evening playing outside snacking on boiled peanuts before crashing in bed.

The next morning the kids and I had plans to meet up with some daycare friends to enjoy the new splash pad they built downtown. The kids really enjoyed it and I think I have found a great new spot for the kids to play on Saturday mornings when Daddy has to work. Entertained them all! 

After lunch at home, the kiddos took a quick nap and then we were off running errands the rest of the evening. It baffles me how much people are amazed by me being out with 3 kids or that I even have 3 kids. I had some people ask, "Are they all yours?" or "You sure do have your hands full!" I usually laugh it off and say yeah because while I do have my hands full,  I wouldn't want it any other way. My children fill my heart with so much joy and even if some days are hectic, I know that these days will be over in the blink of an eye and I will wish them back. :) 

While out, I did get some fabric to make curtains for Trinity's loft bed. I still have to cut, sew and would like to add some ribbon to the edges but here is a sneak peek: 

She wanted something with sparkle and I wanted something white so we compromised on 2 separate fabrics, her's being tulle and mine being white sheer fabric. I may actually use the white sheer fabric and make them into some sort of curtain for her window and get a white fabric that is a little more heavy for her bed. Have to make another trip to the store I guess. LOL The fabric came from Wal-Mart and wasn't bad on price at all and all together it cost me about $10 for 2 yards of each.

Sunday at church they had prayer for the students beginning the new school year. Ofcourse my bashful little shortcake hid her face and did not like having to get up in front of the congregation. LOL Atleast she didn't cry. :) 

Afterwards, Trinity and Gabriel went home to play with Nana for a bit and Asher and I went shopping at Kohls and then went to Bruster's for some ice-cream. I got some pretty good deals, at both places might I add. 

I got all of this at Kohls for $51!

At Bruster's I ended up getting my ice-cream for free with a coupon and Asher got his baby one for free also. Can't beat that and especially went it is as yummy as their ice-cream! Well, hope everyone has a HAPPY Monday and doesn't work too hard. :) I have another long day...7:30-5:30 again. :'( 

Mod Podge Projects

I have an obsession with mod podge! I have used it on a couple of projects and keep finding more ways that I plan on using it on. My to do list wish keeps growing. LOL Here are a few pinterest ideas that I would love to try:

I love the way these light switches turned out. I think this would be cute in any pattern for a room for a little sprucing up. 

I love the way this filing cabinet turned out. They used wallpaper but I thick some decorative paper would work just fine. Love how the handles just give it such a polished look. I think this will be added to my to do list also!

I think these coasters would be a great gift to do for anyone! I want some for myself....guess I will add it to my to do list also. LOL 

There are so many cute things to do out there with mod podge and it goes a long way too! I am still on my first bottle and have use it many times. Can't wait to show you all my desk with my photos modpodged to it. Hopefully that post will be up tomorrow. Have to finish painting tonight.

Trinity went to a farm yesterday on a field trip and got to ride a horse. I think the only reason she got on is because my friend Lacey got on it too. I think I would have the same look on my face though! :)

She had no fear getting on this horse though! LOL Don't they look cute in their cowboy gear they got from VBS. They are really enjoying it!

Long Day Tuesday & Anniversary

Boy has it been a long day! Got to work at 7:30, got off at near 5 and had to rush to VBS to drop the kids off. Ran some errands with my little man Asher and am just now getting home. Luckily I don't have a to do here at home tonight and daddy is bringing home supper so I am getting in a little computer time.  On another note, today is mine and my gunny's 8 year anniversary! Wow...I cannot believe it has been that long since we tied the knot and so much has happened since then! I am so thankful for my sweet man and I look forward to many more years with him. Last night was the kids first night at VBS and lets just saw they had mixed feelings about going. LOL They don't ever really like to leave Mommy. :) Trinity's face says it all in the picture but once she saw one of her buddies, she was good to go. Gabriel on the other hand was ok going in but as soon as I handed him off, he screamed. :( He did fine afterwards as usual though. *sigh of relief*

They were so excited to show me all they had done when they got home!

On another note, while they were gone, I worked on my new computer desk. Here is a sneak peek:

This is just the top of the desk but I painted it with chalkboard paint and the keyboard tray has black and white photos modpodged on it. More details hopefully tomorrow. Well, off to go eat supper and paint. Have a blessed night!!

Our Weekend

Our Weekend

Hope everyone had a blessed weekend and all the fathers had a great fathers day! We had us an extended weekend starting on Thursday. I was off work Thursday and Friday so the kiddos and I went down to Darlington to visit my family. It was a far overdue visit since it had been almost a year since we had been. The kids of course got spoiled by their grandma and great-grandma. They loved seeing them!

My silly kids. This is how picture taking usually goes. Especially when I am in a rare one. LOL

I made travel kits for the kids. Everything came from the dollar store and only cost me a whopping $9. The kids enjoyed them. Only thing I suggest is to be sure everything is loose because my 2 year old cried for a good 2- minutes until I could stop because he couldn't get his crayons out of the package. Whoops! 

I bought me a label maker while I was down there and organized my Grandma's cabinets for her. I would have loved to have done more for her but This was all I could accomplish on half a day.

When I got back into town, my sweet hubby took us all out to eat and then to Best Buy to look at computers. Our 8 year anniversary is this Tuesday and he said he would get me a new computer as my gift. I have always wanted an iMac but didn't think it was in our budget but much to my surprise, my hubby got it for me! Major bonus points for that man! Just love him! He also knows how much I love taking photos and he also got my photoshop. 

Sunday morning we nwent to Denny's for breakfast before church. Then RJ's family came over to our house to spend some time. His Grandfather was down visiting and it was so nice to see them! Can't believe I didn't get any photos of everyone too! I had my camera out also and just plain forgot. 

Well, my sweet boss at work gave me the day off and let my take the kiddos to daycare so I have the house to myself (hasn't happened in years) so I am off to do some cleaning out, labeling, and get crafty! Hope everyone has an amazing Monday!!

Teacher Gift

I love Target! I mean, who doesn't!?!? So, when it came to teacher gifts this year, ofcourse Target came to mind first. I originally was going to shop around with my daughter to pick out something for her teachers but as a mom to 3, it is hard going into target and they not want everything as well.  So, after church Sunday we ran by to pick up a gift card (because who wouldn't like picking out their own gift) and I saw these cute owls! Precious right?? I thought about just grabbing a greeting card but the crafty person in me ofcourse wanted to come up with a cute saying and put her touch on it. So photoshop was pulled up, some clip art downloaded, typed in the cute saying and printed it out. Sounds fast but the OCD person inside me took forever trying to get it perfect. 

I used these raised up squares to add some depth to the tree, threw the owl under it and ta-da! 

Well, not quite because after looking at it, I thought it looked a little plain so I thought adding some colorful  grass to it would help. So, 6am came and I got Trinity up nice and early to do some painting. Yup, she was asleep. LOL Luckily after sitting her at the table and realizing she was doing something crafty, she was right on board. Just like her mama!
